The team and artists at Marketplace Studios would like to invite you to MADE AT MARKETPLACE, THIS weekend, 10th-11th December, from 11am-5pm.
Marketplace Studios is an exciting initiative providing start-up business support to creative graduates from Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. A three-storey building set in the heart of Stockport’s Market Square in the historic Old Town is used as a platform for creative sharing and development in design and craft.
MADE AT MARKETPLACE is a collective platform for the artists, designers and makers currently working in our studios. This weekend will see a launch of recent work by the creatives shown in our gallery shop with many works for sale in time for the festive season! Also an opportunity to see developing creative projects, representing the array of approaches present in our studio community. Alongside this is our weekend of OPEN STUDIOs. Our doors will be open to the public to explore the building, studios and chat with our artists. There will also be DROP-IN AND MAKE workshops by some of our artists in their studio spaces including Headband-making and Hat-customising sessions, so bring your old hats along! Workshops are between 12-2pm on both days.
Not sure how to find us!? We are just a 10-15 minute walk from the train station and trains run every 10 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly Station. Buses get you a little closer to the Studios and drop off in the town centre just a short walk from Marketplace, with the 23 & 24 running from Chorlton-Didsbury-Stockport and the 192 from the city centre. Check TFGM website for more information.
If you are a driver, on Saturday 10th you can get free parking at the council owned pay and display car parks in Stockport see the Council Website. FIND US at this address –> Marketplace Studios, Market Square, Stockport, SK1 1EU
After you have visited us you could take the opportunity to visit the local independent businesses, the old market monthly vintage stalls right outside the Studios and Stockport’s Hat Work Museum which is only down the road!
We hope to see you there!
